September's shaping up to be an epic time to get together and have some fun with the Windber Speedway League as we celebrate the 2024-2025 season and look forward to the 2026 season with a kickoff party weekend at Thunder Valley in Bristol Tennessee! We have a base campsite near the track to allow the League member to meet and party from Thursday September 11th to Sunday the 14th. We will certainly have a more formal schedule of picnic/party meet times as we get closer to the date but suffice to say it will be a great time to go to a NASCAR race and party with us. So what's going on at Bristol that weekend? Well, Thursday night the 11th the Craftsman trucks and ARCA cars race. Friday night the 12th, the Xfinity cars run, and Saturday night the 13th the Cup cars have a go at it. You can choose to attend any or all of the weekend races as we will be there for all of it with our big 10x20 tent set up beside the RV as a base for all of the league members to rest and enjoy. What about tickets? The Thursday races are general admission and sell for around $27 each and include both the ARCA and truck races which start at 5pm. The Friday and Saturday races are best purchased as a September Weekend Package. We have our tickets in the Jeff Gordon Tower Section D in Row 28 (JGT-D 28) which is the top row on the shade side of the track (very important, not staring into the sun!, opposite the start finish line side of the track). These tickets cost approximately $196 total for BOTH days. So, if you want great tickets to all 4 races over 3 days it will cost you about $223 per person. They do have cheaper seats (as little as $60 per race for the Cup) and you can just buy seats for one race day rather than all three. But, if you want to sit near us, get on the phone and call them at Bristol (866-415-4158). The last we checked, there were seats available in row 27, seats 1 thru 9, and others right below them as well. Note, there are great seats all over this track! It really is a fishbowl so buy seats where you can afford to and enjoy the races.
What's on the agenda for this weekend besides the races? Well, the races will take up the evenings, and they are surrounded by free concerts and crazy promo party events in the Fan Zone at the track. We will certainly schedule a morning road trip to Gatlinburg/Pigeon Forge to sample the local finery (Friday morning) and an inevitable trip to the local go car track (Saturday Morning) to test our collective race skills (until they throw us out). Outside of that, we will be grillin' and chillin' our way thru the weekend, visiting the fan zone (which last year included a big display from iracing) with the vendor areas, telling lies and making predictions about season 4. Oh, and there might be a few surprises as well.
